My career started in the 90s as a set carpenter. I soon moved on to drawing sets for various art directors and set companies in Los Angeles (mostly TV commercials). In the beginning I would draw pencil renderings of the sets, draft working plans, then go back into the shop and build, eventually joining up with the crew to install the sets on stage or at a location. This was my introduction into the business.
As I started to production design my own projects I always did my own drawings, SketchUp to Photoshop renderings, drafting, graphics, sign and package layout etc. Some of the illustrations on this site are from projects that I designed. You can view my production design website here.
I do enjoy working as an illustrator for other designers. Iām familiar with the time lines and know first hand about the urgency to get images out for approval. Approved sketches are one of the first steps on any project and having been in the trenches for a number of years I totally get it.
Thanks for visiting the site and let me know if I can be of help on your next project.
